ALCHEMY OF DWELLING

where matter,
memory, and the senses intertwine

The materials chosen bring that language back to life – continuous surfaces, earthy tones, and organic textures. Brazilian design pieces and furniture with pure lines, some with a brutalist soul, others with welcoming curves, shape a fluid, affective environment where each element speaks to the next with simplicity and precision.

Designed for cosmopolitan residents, the project elevates the sensory experience of space and its subtle impact on daily life: visual comfort, the pleasing touch of materials, the harmony between what is functional and what moves us.

Our lives unfold in a constant flow of chemical reactions: emotions, memories, affections. It’s also in the nature of elements – their shape, texture, and temperature – that the pleasure of dwelling is born.

ART IS SUDDEN INFATUATION

SP-ARTE + brazilian routes

“A very joyful and fulfilling encounter between teams who love what they do!”
Fernanda Feitosa - SP-Arte

in 2023, marina linhares was invited to design the first collectors lounge at sp-arte, bringing together furniture by iconic names in brazilian modernist design –such as the campana brothers, zanine caldas, sergio rodrigues, jorge zalszupin, geraldo de barros, julio katinsky, and oswaldo mellone – alongside carefully selected works of art.

the same concept was extended to other gathering spaces at the largest art and design fair in latin america, with the goal of bringing people closer, sparking meaningful conversations, and offering fresh air between visits.

a retrieval of my memories

SOMEONE ALWAYS LEAVES SOMETHING BEHIND

a house that comes from far away is always asking: where did I come from?

a small, abandoned house in serra da bocaina, filled with emotional memory, and the desire to reflect on the creative process – these were the starting points for the publication alguém passa por aqui e deixa alguma coisa (someone always leaves something behind).

across journeys to portugal, morocco, france, rio grande do sul, and within the bocaina region itself, an extensive research process unfolded, gathering references and inspirations to define the elements of this unlikely project: a house- book, whose transformation would guide – and be guided by – a collective way of seeing.

A NEW WAY OF THE SAME WAY

CASACOR SP 2022

…it’s not that I’m doing it in a new way, but rather, in a different way – more thoughtful, more current, more mature…
Marina Linhares

  • Marina’s concern in this project went beyond interior walls. The space titled “A new way of the same way” was designed to be accessible – where all senses were engaged and differences welcomed.

Visitors were greeted by a projection of the lyrics to “Noturno em São Paulo” by Dick Farney – also present on the turntable and in the book Conjunto Nacional: a conquista da Paulista, both integrated into the space.

A custom-developed fragrance, Manacá, welcomed guests with a scent that instantly transported them, assuring a sense of belonging.

Accessible ramps, wide corridors for wheelchairs, handrails, a tactile floor plan, audio description, fabric swatches with raised textures, and videos in Brazilian Sign

Language (Libras) all helped create a space where every person could fully understand and enjoy the environment.

“Detailing is a constant in everything I do – but it must be felt, lived, and enjoyed by anyone who wants to connect with our work.”

    Marina Linhares

marina was one of the honorees at casacor sp 2022, where she celebrated 20 years since her first participation in the event.

“The invitation to return to Casacor in such a special place like Conjunto Nacional was inspiring. I couldn’t bring myself to hang curtains – so I could keep admiring : Avenida Paulista.”

A HOME THAT SAILS

The house–boat project

from Marina da Glória to the world

A man must travel (…) He must travel by himself, with his own eyes and feet, to understand what is truly his.
